Dear VACC Members and Colleagues:
The Virginia Association of Clinical Counselors has been the state chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association since 1980. During this long period of time, our mission has been to promote the counseling profession and the practice of clinical counseling. To this end, we have passed legislation, operated an advocacy committee, provided training, and disseminated information that we developed from our own sources and from our associations with other organizations. However, in order to continue these services in our all volunteer organization, we need the aid of additional board members. VACC has been proud to be an independent organization dedicated to the clinical counseling profession, but unless we get some more motivated board members, we may have to consider such possibilities as reuniting with the Virginia Counselors Association.
Thank you for your support of us through your dues, but please help us by serving on the Executive Board. We have three meetings a year on a Friday, and a retreat. You will have the pleasure of shaping the clinical counseling profession in Virginia and developing your leadership skills. And, your service nets you eight hours a year toward the 20 contact hours of continuing education required by the Board of Counseling. While you have to be a VACC member to serve on the Board, you do not have to be licensed (except for the president). You can join VACC at http://www.vacc.org/join-today. Contact Theresa Johnson-Sion, our President-Elect at email@example.com.
